A romance between two teachers, kind of a slight adversaries to lovers story, not quite enemies. Rose’s cherished World History classes are given to Martin Krause when he joins the faculty. Even if it wasn’t Martin’s intentions and he doesn’t know what exactly he’s walking into he tries to remain friendly towards Rose even though she’s giving serious ice queen vibes.
Then Rose meets Martin’s daughter and the ice begins to crack and thaw and he sees the woman underneath, both of them are deeply scarred from their previous relationships. Will they choose to risk their hearts and allow themselves to be vulnerable for the chance of love?
There’s so many things I loved about this book. I had read Spoiler Alert earlier this year and it didn’t really hit that hard in spite of me being a big nerd, but this romance about two teachers in their 40’s was just chef’s kiss.
First off, the chemistry they had, for being both history teachers, yep jokes, is amazing and they seemed to fit in each other’s lives perfectly. Also, the sex scenes were wholesome and REAL. There was a lot of sex positivity and safe sex practices. Martin and Rose voiced their wants and needs, communicating what each other needed to find pleasure with their partner. This was absolutely amazing! Usually in romance novels the sex is perfect, passionate and everyone orgasms from the slightest thing. Seeing a couple communicate their needs and work towards pleasure together was so refreshing.
I can’t wait to read more from this series. It was fairly quick coming in at under 300 pages. If you’ve read Spoiler Alert, but didn’t really jive with it, pick this up.
