When everyone at her twin sister’s wedding comes down with serious food poisoning, Olive has no choice but to go on the all expenses paid honeymoon that the happy couple will miss out on. The only problem is she has pretend to be her twin and play nice with the groom’s brother, Ethan who she is almost certain hates her guts.
Playing the happily married couple for a free vacation sounds easy until they have to share a room and the activities, but things change as they get closer and Olive has to second guess everything she has known about Ethan.
I can’t believe it took me this long to read this. I heard how good it was but I didn’t know it was happy tears good. This has every single trope that you could imagine in such a delicious mix of romancey goodness. Forced proximity, fake dating/marriage and hate to love. Oh my gosh.
Olive is pretty much my favorite character. She mentions Harry Potter, Buffy and I’m pretty sure there was a Star Wars reference there as well. She’s an amazing curvy woman and I want to be her best friend. She’s fairly cynical, which same to be honest, but she begins to embrace the potential of happiness over the course of the book.
Ethan is swoon worthy and snarky and their banter is amazing. I love a book with good banter. It’s like a verbal sword fight at time. You do get the idea that their opinions of the other are wrong from the start, but you aren’t completely certain until they start to let their guards down around each other. The conflict fit the story and wasn’t easily resolved, but in a good way. They had to work to move past their issues which added a bit of a realistic tone to the novel.
The sexy scenes were tasteful, a bit more tame that I’m used to with Christina Lauren books, but still steamy in spite of not being too in depth so to speak. This would be perfect for those who want a bit of steam, but nothing graphic or raunchy. There are flirty and seductive comments, but no dirty talk.
If you are on the fence. Jump off and grab the book. I swear. Do it.
