This book has been making it’s way around the romance booktube community and I just had to check it out with my kindle unlimited subscription.
I am a sucker for fae stories especially those that feature mating bonds. I blame Sarah J Maas because if it wasn’t for her and Holly Black I probably wouldn’t know half the stuff I know about the Fae.
Taylor is just a normal college girl, ready to buckle down and study for finals when her roommate invites her out to party. Now, Cecile isn’t as serious about her school work as Taylor is and to keep her from drinking and driving Taylor agrees.
As soon as they pull up to the frat party, Cecile drugs her and Taylor wakes up imprisoned in the cruel fae realm.
The story is a serial, just 100 pages each installment so it’s a fairly quick read. Not a lot happened in the first book, but I did enjoy the burgeoning relationship between Taylor and Leander. It doesn’t go zero to sixty like you’d assume with a mating bond sort of story. The bond is clearly fully locked in place for Leander, but Taylor is still pretty freaked out.
Even with his Fae urges driving him made, Leander is the perfect gentleman. Protective, but not overly so, not in an alpha, “Gotta take care of my girl” type of way. Not that a Fae would talk like that. Note to self, write a romance novel where a Fae talks like an alpha.
If you have a Kindle Unlimited subscription, give it a try. You might enjoy it especially if you’re a fan of Sarah J Maas. So far there wasn’t much sexy talk other than the aforementioned description of urges. Nothing super explicit, but beware. I haven’t read the rest of the series so it might pick up quick.
